Swollen Gums Beyond Oral Hygiene

Gums that are bleeding and swelling are the most common and the earliest symptoms of gum disease. Base on studies the premier reason for the occurrence of swollen gums and gum disease is poor oral hygiene, however there are also other reasons to that both condition occur.

Allergies, medical conditions and prescription medications are known to cause a person’s gums to swell. Infection and nutrition and vitamin deficiency may contribute to swollen gums. When swollen gums still persists even with proper and good oral hygiene then there is a need for a dental care expert’s help for proper treatment.

Proper oral hygiene, eating the right food and taking the supplements and avoiding bad habits such as alcohol and tobacco are the key in preventing swollen gums effectively.
